Humans of New York gets its own TV series on Facebook
We've come to love the Humans of New York (HONY) photo series on Facebook, and now we'll see those intimate mini-interviews with strangers in NYC (and beyond) in video form.
HONY is branching out into TV through a 12-episode docu-series that will be hosted on Facebook's revamped video platform Watch.
HONY founder Brandon Stanton said to The Hollywood Reporter that this was the next logical step for his photo series. "It seemed to be a natural evolution to do some interviews on film," he says, adding that the video interviews will feature people who are 'new to the Humans of New York universe'. He shared that he currently has video interviews with over 1200 people, filmed over the course of four years.
Stanton, who started HONY in 2010 and is said to have featured almost 10,000 New Yorkers, has also frequently travelled to other countries in the past years and is currently sharing stories from Russia. He made a stop in Pakistan in the summer of 2015. It's not known at this point if the docu-series will feature Stanton's interviews from his world tour.
The series will launch next week with new episodes coming out on a weekly basis.
