Raveena replaces Rahat in upcoming Maatr music video

Raveena replaces Rahat in upcoming Maatr music video

On the bright side, Rahat's songs made the cut in two other Bollywood films
31 Mar, 2017

The producers of Raveena Tandon's film Maatr have confirmed that Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan won't be appearing in a special music video as planned earlier, reports India Today.

Producer Anjum Rizvi told reporters, "It would've been ideal if we could, but unfortunately at this stage, it's not happening."

The filmmakers will now apparently feature Raveena's scene from the film in the music video instead of Rahat's.

However, speaking at the trailer launch of Maatr, the actress shared that she feels art and culture should not face restrictions.

"As far as I am concerned, I feel art, culture, music have no boundaries. Music is something which flows from within, has no walls, you can't conceal it. Once the sound, musical notes are out you can't control it."

On the other hand, music composer Vipin Patwa fought to keep Rahat's track 'Rog Jaane' for Akshara Haasan's upcoming film, Laali Ki Shadi Mein Laddoo Deewana while the makers wanted to drop the song to avoid controversy.

Speaking to Mid-Day, Vipin revealed, "I thought replacing his voice would be disrespectful. I managed to convince the makers to retain his version. [There would be room for controversy] if we had recorded the number post September [after the Uri attacks]."

When contacted, the film's producer, TP Aggarwal, admitted they wanted to "play safe".

"We didn't want to offend anyone. The song is amazing, right from the composition, to the lyrics, and then there is the brilliance of Rahat saab's voice."

Well, you win some, you lose some.

That being said, here's another newly released song by the singer, in collaboration with Sonu Nigam for Vidya Balan's Partition flick, Begam Jaan.*

@pakistani Ignorance is bliss. Its Indo Pak partition related movie. Ofcourse artist from other side is needed, when one has to portray Pakistan side in movie. Your statement is true when you take om puri, nasarudin shah, sonu Nigam who don't play indian roles in your movie. Unlike this venture.

Wow, she looks almost like him too; Them Hindus-tanis couldn't find anything of standard and see what they found in the heap to replace a legend; Only thing she can do at this age and stage is expose her flesh and shake a few bones, as thats the best she can do;

@PREcluder I am a Pakistani and think that shahid's comments are childish at best. The same goes for any hate mongers from Indian side. We have tried hating each others for half a century, its about time we give peace and love a chance.

Love Rahat saabs voice. Very mesmerizing. Artists have no boundaries. And music is beyond this realm. It flows and unifies across borders. Love from India.

It seems like RSS had conveyed its message to the makers of this movie. The rest is history. No one has spine to stand up these bullies backed by the Modi government.

@ankita According to your logic the movie should then also have Pakistani actors portraying people joining Pakistan (even though I don't want our artists to work in India if they continue getting disrespected). So either your logic is flawed or this movie's casting!

@OSCAR PINTO Its not audio vs visual video. It's visual video vs visual video. Rahat was to appear in the video, now he won't and Raveena's scenes from the movie will be played in music.

Sir Extremism always existed in India and it used to be kept under wraps but now the lava of lack of tolerance and hatred has blown out. The Pakistani artists now must show some self esteem and dignity by refusing to work in any movie made in or made for Bollywood!!!
