I've never put on so much weight before: Ranbir Kapoor on playing Sanjay Dutt

The actor is actually getting out of shape in order to star in Sanjay Dutt's biopic

There's a Sanjay Dutt biopic in the works and Ranbir Kapoor is on board.

The Tamasha actor will be portraying Dutt in this upcoming film about the latter's controversial life.

According to Hindustan Times, Kapoor is doing whatever it takes for the character, including gaining weight!

Says Kapoor, "It has been an inspiring journey for me to be playing Sanjay Dutt for the silver screen. I have never put on so much weight before and now plan to reduce some weight for the next phase of shooting."

The film is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, who has worked with Sanjay Dutt in movies like 2003's Munna Bhai MBBS and its 2006 sequel. Hirani hopes to portray seven stages of Dutt's life, the first phase being when the actor was 22. Does that mean Ranbir Kapoor will have seven different looks? Sounds interesting!

Kapoor is excited to work with the PK director.

"It’s amazing to be working with a director like Rajkumar Hirani."

The film so far has no title and Kapoor will begin promotions after he is done with Jagga Jasoos.

they are portraying Dutt as if he is a great personality. And what is the need of another actor playing his role when he is alive himself?

@Simba There is no premise by Hirano that Dutt is a great personality. He's had a relatively interesting life and someone has chosen to make a film about it. Simple as that. You don't need to watch it if you're not interested.

@Akram Born to one of the most successful actor couples, brought up in a highly privileged environment, drug addict in teens, flop actor in early life, connection with under world, and gets booked under TADA, has three failed marriages and umpteen break ups, finally gets convicted but spends little time in jail - is that what you call an "interesting" life? Pray save your children from making him a role model. Maybe this film is a launchpad for his political career.
