Om Puri's post-mortem report reveals the actor suffered a head injury

It had been previously reported that he died of a heart attack
Updated 09 Jan, 2017

New details have emerged about veteran actor Om Puri's death a few days after his demise.

According to Mumbai Mirror, the police have registered a case of accidental death after the post-mortem report, revealing that his death was not natural as previously reported. When police arrived at Om Puri's residence on Friday, he was found lying on the floor with a sharp injury on his head.

"We suspect that Puri died of heart attack. However, it'll be confirmed after viscera report. After suffering from a cardiac arrest, he might have fallen causing the injury on his forehead. He was alone at home and there was no sign of forced entry. At this stage, we have ruled out possibility of any foul play," said a senior officer of Mumbai Police.

Producer Khalid Kidwai claims to have been with Puri a few hours before he passed away and shared that the 66-year-old star really wanted to meet his son Ishan on that particular day.

"We (Kidwai and Om Puri) went to Trishul building where his ex-wife Nandita lives with Ishan but were unable to meet them as they had gone out to a party. Om Puri then had an argument over the phone with Nandita and asked them to come soon as he wanted to meet his son," read the statement.

"He poured a drink in his glass and waited for almost 45 minutes at Nandita's flat but when they didn't turn up, he took the glass and liquor bottle and started drinking in the car. After finishing the drink, we left," added Kidwai's statement.

I do not want to jump to any conclusion but I had my fears that the man has been silenced as he was a big supporter of India-Pak peace efforts. I hope Indians quickly realize that radicalism is bad and if not checked quickly it will bring down India (Pak is a good example look what these radical has done to a beautiful country). Time to wake up and tackle parties like RSS, Shiv Sina etc.

@Nirman Your lack of knowledge shows your mental aptitude. Om Puri was all about secularism and wanted India to have peaceful relations with Pakistan which causes extremist Indians to spew venom and hate against him. Some sick minded person might have taken matters a step further which might have caused his death. The story from heart attack to a head wound also raises great suspicion.

So the cause of death was heart failure or the head injury? If he fell after heart attack, he must be lying where he fell, was there any sharp object there like table, glass etc.

rj zain khan Jan 09, 2017 10:32pm
friends this is not necessary that it was a murder, may be he had heart attack and fell down on the earth and got injured. may be it is a murder for some other reasons related to his personal matters with someone, we should not assume something without any solid reason.

If he was really murdered by Indian Govt, would it be so stupid to leave evidence? Also, would it not have forced the doctor to declare he died of 'heart attack'. His wife left him because of his excessive drinking and his abuse. He probably fell while inebriated and died of his injuries as he lived alone..

Looking at the comments, people seem to pick only parts which support their conspiracy theories. Indian authorities themselves said they suspect 'no foul play'. Also there were no external injuries except a 'slight would to the head'.

Non-sensical comments - He was killed by his love and attachment for his son and his ex-wife hitting him where it hurt, namely he not seeing his son as much as he wanted. Sad Sad Sad trend in the world Guys. Family courts know most of the allegations made by ex-wives are not true. Now they have this tool in their hand called domestic violence. And which wife wants to write an auto-biography of her husband and defrocks him. So sad we lost such a wonderful actor.

@Talha Among the general public, many people openly show their disagreement with the government. Nothing has happened to them so far. Online abuse is a different matter, you can say those words which you might not use in face to face conversation. Many people supported Pakistan even when it wasn't needed, like manishankar iyer. So Om Puri's opinion was quite mild compared to Iyer's opinion. Don't blame government or pro government people for each and every bad incident in India.
