Is Mathira's 'Butter Jawani' Pakistan's answer to 'Chikni Chameli'?

Is Mathira's 'Butter Jawani' Pakistan's answer to 'Chikni Chameli'?

After Katrina's Chikni Chameli and Katrina's Afghan Jalebi comes Mathira's Butter Jawani from upcoming film Blind Love
Updated 26 May, 2016

After a cameo in Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, Mathira is making her film debut in Faisal Bukhari's Blind Love.

Much more exciting than that film title is the name of its item number... 'Butter Jawani', starring Mathira.

Combining item songs' penchant for sticky substances - e.g., 'Chikni Chameli', 'Afghan Jalebi' - with the all-important youth factor, Mathira's 'Butter Jawani' is going to be an Eid treat for her fans.

At least, that's what Mathira maintains in her conversation with Images.

It's a very nice *chikni jawani* that you guys will see, says Mathira of the song

Here's what she shared about 'Butter Jawani' and the film it's marketing:

"You guys will like 'Butter Jawani'. It's a very nice, catchy tune," begins Mathira.

"Log kehte hain ke makhan sehat ke liye acha hota hai. Jawani ke liye bhi makhan acha hota hai. (People say butter's good for your health. It's also good for your youthfulness.) It's a very nice chikni jawani that you guys will see. Everyone worked really hard on this song. Pappu [Samrat] bhai choreographed it. I think you guys will like it. It's going to be a good Eidi for my fans and followers."

So what is the film, Blind Love, actually about?

"It's [director] Faisal Bukhari's first film," says Mathira. "It's going to be a nice film. There's love, romance, entertainment, action. I hope you all will like it. It will release on Eid."

"My role in the film is a very sizzling one!" she adds. "I was in two minds when the song and film was offered to me but I'm happy that I did it."

Mathira is confident that the reaction to 'Butter Jawani' will be all positive.

"People clap and whistle at these songs. They like it. Wo zamana nahi hai ke log culture, religion aur media ko mix kare. (Gone are the days when people would mix culture, religion and media.) Our people are well educated, they understand culture, media and religion are separate things. I don't think they will criticise the song. My fans, to be honest, are the sweetest people on earth. They made me who I am today. The audience has never let me down, so this is something I'm excited about. "

'Butter Jawani' Blind Love comes out on Eid this year.

Is it just me, or the Pakistani media - movies and TV dramas getting more salacious, with lots of skin and suggestive scenes??

Love the comment that, culture media and religion are all separate things, and educated ones know the 'fact'. Indeed a sorry state of affairs for our confused educated youth and their icons.

This is absolutely tasteless and disgraceful, why are we following the Indian culture in what ever shape form it's coming. These women should be ashamed of their immoral behaviours and should think about their religion, culture and values. Few cheap thrills for money is not every thing in life. I wish film directors and producers should think about making such movies where they put their religion and culture at stake for sake of competing with Indian film industry. I'm really ashamed of such Pakistani image.

@Awesome Lyrics In commercial cinema we are following Bollywood's formula of film making. The reason for this is the consistent phenomenal success of Bollywood trashy films on Pakistani box office. Audience in Pakistan love to watch such crap in the form of Bollywood films, and the record breaking back to back success of such Bollywood films gives encouragement to local film producers to also use the same recipe to attract viewership and earn success with the Pakistani audience..

@Awesome Lyrics Culture? What culture? This is a movie. A movie is a story and a story and its characters are not bound by any culture. Don't like it? Then don't watch it. You have the choice.
