Shiv Sena controversy: Sidharth Malhotra speaks up for Fawad Khan

“He has been working with us for a while now. I believe creativity crosses border,” said Sidharth of his co-star.

Following the tension caused by Shiv Sena's ban on Pakistani actors in Maharashtra, it appears that the young lot of Bollywood actors is not backing off from picking a side. Fawad Khan's Kapoor & Sons co-star Sidharth Malhotra spoke up for him recently and said that creativity transcends borders, reported The Indian Express.

The 30-year-old actor didn't refrain from speaking his mind when he was asked about the ban on Pakistani actors, cricketers and musicians in the state of Maharashtra: “Everybody has the freedom to work. He has been working with us for a while now. I believe creativity crosses border,” Sidharth said at the opening ceremony of the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival.

The party also targeted Mahira Khan, who is set to appear in Shahrukh Khan-starrerRaees because it believes Pakistani actors are trying to 'gain a foothold in Bollywood.'

Ever since his debut in Khoobsurat, Fawad Khan has become a directors' favourite in Bollywood and has also been roped in for a cameo in Karan Johar's upcoming flick Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He also bagged a Filmfare award in the Best Male Debut category earlier this year, becoming the first Pakistani male artist to do so.

Shiv Sena is not a political party but they are trouble makers of Maharashtra .

Shiv Sena is a " jaahil" organisation, full of local bullies. If you stare back at them, they back off. What happened in the case of Kasuri's book release? Kulkarni was attacked but he did not back out. Kasuri also showed guts and the book got released. Thats the way to confront Shiv Sena. Don't back down.

Shiv Sena is a replica of Gandhi, Nehru and Patel Indian National Congress Party. Had the party accepted the British Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946, which Jinnah accepted, India would have remained united. It is not Pakistan they hate, it is the hundred years of Muslim rule which was imposed on the native Indians by the invading Muslims from Persia and Central Asia.

@fida USA We totally accept that the Mughals ruled us. We don't have a problem with that, in fact they brought their art, culture and knowledge with them and enriched our country. I personally feel privileged that our country has been influenced my multi-lingual and multi-ethnic rulers over the time. Our problem is terrorists and war mongers, who create instability on both the ends.

I think they should take their movie premiers and productions out of the state of Mumbai and do it somewhere peaceful like Hyderabad or Delhi, places where Shiv Sena is less influential. But it's hard to find such places nowadays since they have the majority stake in government. It's also funny to note that they only go after the Pakistanis. Without hate for Pakistanis they have got nothing else.

After listening to all the hatred coming out of these activists, Pakistanis must remain friendly toward other Indians as they still respect and honor Pakistan. At least they do it on the outside, which is more than enough.

one may be born in a political entity created in 1947 but for all intents & purposes we are part of the Indian sub continent and India,. Not political India maybe but geographical India. And as such we have every right to live & work in India if we choose. To hell with the extremist shivsena thugs who claim they speak for Hindu India. Rubbish. I would encourage every Pakistani to assert tyhat they are the inheritors of Indus Valley civilisation and therefore India. Fawad & Mahira just hang in there and make Bombay (Mumbai) your home. You desertve the larger canvas for your talents.

How could a tiny number of Mughals rule India without popular support from the majority community. Mughals had most of the Rajput tribes on their side, and most of them were very just rulers. They also made themselves a part and parcel of India as rightly mentioned by #SENATROUBLE.

@Trv Well said my friend. Its all bullying, I asked my friends here in the US about Shiv Sena and they gave me the best response.....everyone hates them, they have no moral base, they use religion to push their agenda, they are a nuisance and the best way to deal with them is to not back down ever. That reminded me of something we are dealing with in Pakistan as well.....
