Swarovski is celebrating its 120th anniversary in characteristic style.

The cut crystal and costume jewellery brand is inviting its frequent collaborators – designers from all over the Middle East and South Asia, from Pakistan and India to Saudi Arabia and UAE – to its first ever Sparkling Couture exhibition, where the designers will showcase designs created with Swarovski crystals.

This grand affair taking place at Dubai's Madinat Arena on November 4 will feature the works of four Pakistani designers, including Khadija Shah of Elan, Maria B, Faraz Manan and Tena Durrani.

Khadija Shah of Elan

Khadija Shah has created an angrakha in Elan's signature pastel palette. The ensemble, made with Chantilly laces, nets, organzas and tissues in shades of silver, will be encrusted in Swarovski crystals from top to bottom.

"This Élan ensemble is a definition of both, elegance and grandeur. Inspired by the old world charm, the angrakha has an effortlessly feminine quality to it specially when combined with the classic Élan hues," Khaija Shah said about her creation.

Maria B

Maria B went all out and created her dream bridal jora. "I would love to wear this piece if I was getting married again," she enthused.

The dress, created with pure silk organza, nets and pure handwoven silk, may have a subdued palette consisting of a dove grey base with deep sea blue accents, but its embroidery is an expression of a woman’s personality. 3D flowers signify women's love of flowers, while nets, beads and crystals speak of their love for jewellery.

Faraz Manan

With a Swarovski-encrusted bodice, the Faraz Manan ensemble has been created in silk and organza and marries Western silhouettes with eastern embellishment.

Faraz Manan believes he's created an ensemble that's fit for a queen, and says that it is a dress Queen Rania would wear.

Tena Durrani

Tena Durrani's ensemble has been inspired by Emily Dickinson's poetry. Tena has translated the nature theme in the British poet's work into crystalline birds and delicate floral embroidery, and created a piece that celebrates the femininity and beauty of springtime.

A total of 41 brand have been invited to participate at the Sparkling Couture exhibition, including India's JJ Valaya, Suneet Sharma and Amrapali Jewellery.
