Pakistan's Raees ban is NOT going down well with fans

One Indian is so upset he's asked Mahira to move to India... Umm, no.
Updated 07 Feb, 2017

After a week of 'will it? won't it', it's been revealed that Mahira Khan's Raees will not release in Pakistan.

Sources from the censor board told Images that Raees has been banned because "the content undermines Islam, and a specific religious sect, [while also] portraying Muslims as criminals, wanted persons and terrorists."

The news neither went down well with Raees fans nor the film's director Rahul Dholakia. Since the ban was announced, Twitter became a battleground of sorts, some for the ban and some against. Here are some of the best reactions.

The first one to lose his cool was Rahul Dholakia:

Ex-censor board member Fakhr-e-Alam unfortunately got all the hate:

All those tags must've hurt right in the feelz.

This explains why one anchor Amir (ahem) Liaquat (ahem) runs scot-free:

Psst. You didn't hear it from us.

This guy was seriously unhappy.

Some were more concerned about Mahira's reaction to the ban.

Our sentiments are quite fragile. Movies must not break them!

Let's not forget this is CBFC'S 'kaisa diya' moment.

A moment of silence for all delusional fans of Shah Rukh Khan.

An Indian woman making Pakistani men go gaga? Unacceptable. Ban her too!

Payback in the afterlife. Someone's gonna get a hurt real bad:

Round up the politicians, we've got quite a few 'tax chors' who need to be banned too:

One Indian is so upset he's asked Mahira to move to India...

Umm, no.

Slow clap for the censor board.

Kitni filmein ban karogay, har ghar sey Raees fan niklay ga!

Clearly we're getting a little carried away with this...

@Ahmad also, it's loosely based on a biopic of this gujarati Muslim guy. So that's the reason for the religion of the character raees. Nothing offensive is there.

All Indian movies must be banned for an indefinite period. This is not something to joke over or get over emotional about. There is a thing called self respect and as Pakistanis we should have that, especially keeping in view the fact that India sent away our sportsmen and actors. Pakistan is more important than an actor's career and I hope that actors understand that too because they got their identity from Pakistan.

Rahul Dholkia the director of the movie is pretty mad for obvious reason of not making money. Like it or not it is the decision of Pakistan.

@faizy by the way Raees did Rupees 109 crores in one week in india. I guess Pakistan does not want Mahira to become top paying actress .

Thank God Iraq didnt ban Raees. Watched it with family on first friday :D Pakistani censor board is no less than the a joker .Either all indian movies should be banned for good (if patriotism requires thay) or at least they should stop giving such pathetic excuses and reasons behind the ban..those who have problem with a Shiya Muslim running a liquor business or involvement of Indian Muslims in terrorism should watch Rahul Dholakia's other film Parzania.its available on Youtube. He depicted hindu terrorism in Gujrat very bluntly. He is no Muslim Hater..and not even once I felt animosity or hostility towards Muslims while watching Raees..
