Madhubala's sister wants Kareena Kapoor to play the legendary actor in biopic

Madhubala's sister wants Kareena Kapoor to play the legendary actor in biopic

Her first choice was Madhuri, but Madhubala's sister has since had a change of heart

Seems like Kareena Kapoor Khan may end up playing the iconic actor if a biopic on Madhubala is ever made.

At the unveiling of Madhubala's Anarkali wax figure at Madame Tussauds Delhi on Thursday, the star's sister Madhur Brij, who was present at the event, expressed her happiness at the statue and said, "Thank you everyone for remembering her and still keeping her in your hearts."

She went on to disclose who she thinks would make the perfect Madhubala from Bollywood - if there were to be a biopic made on the late actor.

"There was a time when I wanted Madhuri Dixit to play the role of Madhubala in her biopic but now it has to be Kareena Kapoor Khan as she has the same naughtiness that Madhubala used to have and she is a beautiful actress too."

Talking about her sister's traits she said: Madhubala was very simple at home. She was elder but never bossy and she used to encourage all of us to come in films.

Some of Madhubala's most notable works are Mahal (1949), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Barsaat Ki Raat (1960).

The actor passed away in 1969 after suffering from a prolonged illness.

Madhubala's legend role can be played not by Kareena but a person to be looked around and found amongst commoner.

Madhubala was the most beautiful and highly talented Indian cinema actress of the last century. We have a lot of beautiful faces often seen in the wild panorama. Perhaps, a raw face from the rural background needs to be discovered and presented as Madhubala in the biopic.

It may not be possible now, but Mahira Khan suits her features . No bias just a thought.

@syed ahmed Agree ..... But some how I am fully convinced that Madubala , Mohd Rafi , Deelip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar are born only ONCE ...no one can take their place . As Amitabh Bachan said ..." when talking about Bollywood movies you have to ask a question. ..... Was it before Deelip Saahab or after Deelip Saahab "

none can come even close to Madhubala. it was said that Madhubala is the Marilyn Monroe of Bollywood but in my opinion Marilyn Monroe was the Madhubala of Hollywood.

forget playing madhubala, kareena won't feature even in top hundred good-looking actress. I fail to understand where people find her beautiful ! I've never liked her looks right from beginning. However I like the way she acts of late

@syed ahmed maybe its time for us to grow up and think beyond Mahira, Ayyan, Saba, Mawara, Mira, and Sana. Looks are not enough. Madhubala was a one in a billion combination of beauty, talent, grace and acting skills.

@syed ahmed Nope. She's is plain jane feature wise compared to lengendry Madhubala with questionable dancing skills and acting. Need someone who is class actress with screen presence, one who is beautiful and mastered classical Indian dance. Till we find that combo, nobody can replace legendary Madhubala, Madhuri or Aishwariya Rai in Devdas.

Kareena won't fit the role of 18 year old Anarkali, post having baby Taimoor. She will look old and chubby. Don't think she is classically trained to have the feminity and grace in dance like Madhuri, Madhubala, Jayaprada, Ash had in their classical dance performance in movies. Need fresh face - 18 year old outsider (not nepotistic kids) with fullproof classical dance training , superb acting skills and beauty. Any one component missing and the whole thing falls like pack of cards.

This is the only wax statue after Madhuri's that has done justice to capture the actual beauty, persona, raw emotions and character of a legend. Rest Madame Tusauds statues look flawed, frozen, artifical and fade in comparison to actual star/person in real life. This statue warms the heart making it feel it's actually her. Job well done. Just mesmerised, reminds one of that era.

That statue looks nothing like Madhubala, nor for that matter does Kareena Kapoor.
