Going loco for local: These Lahore-based nachos will literally have you saying ‘nom nom’
Who isn’t on the hunt for new snacks — particularly ones that won’t cost you an arm and a half (thank you, inflation). Lahoris, you have a new option that comes in three flavours, packaged in bright colours and most importantly, tastes really good. Meet the Noms Nachos.
Their tagline is: ‘Baked, guilt-free, whole-grain snacks that make healthy the new cool!’ And while I can’t vouch for the above, I will give you the most important feedback: the taste.
The crunch is on point for all three flavours but how true the flavours are to their names varies.
Cheddar Jalapeno is the one that’s the closest to its name with a definite hit of cheese and a subtle hint of the peppers. Thai Sweet Chilli definitely delivers if you take out Thai from it. I actually found the Chilli Lemon to be more Thai-esque; it’s the spiciest of the lot and the lemon adds the perfect amount of zest.
But I would advise not getting hung up on how much the triangle snacks inside match the label outside; all three packs — priced Rs140 each — were delicious and, with guilt-free plastered right on it, perfect for late-night cravings. Launched only recently, we’re hoping these spicy snacks will make their way to other cities soon.
Currently, they’re available only in Lahore at Jalal Sons, Tayyib, Candy Shop, Total Pump in Garden Town, Baked, Amaltaas, Bread & Beyond and Al-Fatah.
