Bollywood's Deepika Padukone is the first Indian to become a Louis Vuitton House Ambassador

From big screens to fashion labels, Bollywood's Deepika Padukone is the real deal. The Gehraiyaan and Padmaavat star has become the first Indian to be the face of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

The actor had appeared for their pre-fall 2020 campaign but who knew she would become the first Indian to represent the brand. Louis Vuitton has announced that the actor is their 'House Ambassador'.

On May 12, ahead of her visit to France, the 36-year-old actor stopped over in California at the Salk Institute in La Jolla in San Diego County for the brand's cruise 2023 event. Pictures of the actor have been shared online from the event where she can be seen wearing an oversized black jacket with knee high boots and a Dauphine bag that she promoted two years ago for Louis Vuitton's campaign.

“When you’re 18 and have just started earning, you don’t even bother looking into a Louis Vuitton store when you walk past it because you know you’re never going to be able to afford it. There are some things that are aspirational and then there are some things that are just completely out of your orbit," she said in her cover interview with Vogue India on her association with the brand.

She said that her association with Louis Vuitton is the latter and that she's a "very practical, pragmatic person in reality" but has to pinch herself every time to believe that this is happening and it's real. Padukone also said that this "speaks to the kind of diversity" that she hopes to see in the near future.

As the news was announced by the actor on her Instagram stories, her husband and actor Ranveer Singh also congratulated his wife and wrote, "Serious flex, baby" while tagging her in a now expired Instagram story.

The title of House Ambassador is also held by Hollywood's Emma Stone and China's Zhou Dongyu. The announcement for both also came with the launch of the Dauphine bag campaign where the three actors flaunted the bag in their own unique way.
