Yasir Nawaz is going to make his first commercial film in Sindhi
Filmmaker Yasir Nawaz has started work on a film in the Sindhi language alongside acclaimed Sindhi dramatist and former caretaker information minister Noorul Huda Shah.
The Wrong No. and Mehrunisa V Lub U producer took to social media to make the announcement on Sindh Culture Day, which was celebrated on Sunday, December 5.
Nawaz gave Images some details on the project. "Noor ul Huda Shah and I had been contemplating doing a Sindhi movie since quite some time now," he said.
"[We contemplated] what kind of a movie it should be. We finally decided to work on a script and thought that the film should be purely commercial. We've just started working on the script and the shooting will also start soon."
Shah is a well-known name in the drama industry who started her career at PTV. Her projects include dramas such as Jungle, Marvi, Bebak, Meri Adhuri Moahabat, Ajayb Ghar and Adhoora Milan.
"Noor ul Huda Shah is a big name in Pakistan, especially Sindh," Nawaz added.
In 2020, Nawaz worked on the murder-mystery thriller film Chakkar alongside wife Nida Yasir with the hopes of bringing something different to cinema besides romance and comedy, genres that dominate the film landscape.
