Sania Mirza is ready for her biopic to hit the big screen

“Everybody loves champions!” Sania Mirza trudges to Mumbai to meet directors that are bringing her life story to the big screen.

As the only Indian woman to win the title of Grand Slam in doubles, Mirza believes athletes live relatable lives and is interested to know how people would react to her journey.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, she exclaimed, “a lot of sports personalities, including me, come from a humble background. From having almost nothing to going into becoming huge champions and representing our country, our lives are very relatable.”

As the girl who carries her heart on her sleeves and isn’t afraid to make unconventional choices (read: marry a Pakistani sportsperson while being an Indian herself), the professional tennis star believes athletes like herself would make interesting subjects for biopics.

"The hard work that goes into the making of an athlete, a lot of people can relate to it in different ways. We all work hard but when you play a sport, you actually work through sweat and blood,” she says.

Excited to share her journey with the world, Mirza is confident that fans are appreciative of sports personalities since their struggles are grounded, embedded in hardwork and fascinating for people to witness and take inspiration from.

The star signed a contract with Ronnie Screwala’s RSVP movies. However, no release date has been announced yet.
