Stranger Things 3 just broke a huge Netflix record

The third season of sci-fi thriller Stranger Things hit Netflix on 4 July and it's already breaking records.

The streaming platform announced the news via Twitter revealing how the Emmy-award winner is "breaking Netflix records" in just four days of its release.

The tweet also read: "40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show — more than any other film of series in its first four days. Netflix also said 18.2 million household accounts have already finished the entire eight episode season."

They also say that 18.2 million households have already finished the whole eight episode season.

The show dates back to 80's, following a group of Indiana-based kids battling supernatural monsters.

Netflix has seen another record breaker in Murder Mystery this summer which was watched by over 30 million accounts worldwide in its first three days.

However, some analysts have expressed their skepticism over the statistics due to the lack of an independent measuring criteria.
