Priyanka Chopra's Quantico sparks Twitter fury for portrayal of Indian terrorists

Priyanka Chopra's Quantico is running in its third and final season.
In the latest episode titled The Blood of Romeo, Priyanka as FBI anti-terrorism officer Alex Parrish attempts to foils plans of a nuclear attack in Manhattan by Indian nationalists who intended to blame Pakistan for it.
This has, of course, sparked an outrage among Indian viewers of the show and fans of the actor.
What the hell was this episode of #Quantico .. they tried to show ‘Indian nationalists’ (their term) trying to blow up Manhattan to frame Pakistan.. I don’t even know what sort of ridiculous narrative was this episode trying to set.. nonsensical stuff..

I can't believe #Quantico brought up the Kashmir and relationship issues between India & Pakistan this way. Makes me laugh more than anything. Also they're walking with a nuclear bomb in hand in the middle of Nyc and not scared it might blow up???

And now, according to #Quantico India is a terrorist country.

Many are holding Priyanka accountable for going along with the idea:
I don't follow #Quantico, and after seeing what @priyankachopra #Quantico has shown (India planning a Attack and blaming pkaistan).. are you serious??..

Do you even know what are you doing, just for the sake of money you are putting your selfishness your greed before nation
#PriyankaChopra is part of a #Quantico episode that shows NY attacked by Hindu fundamantalists who blame the dirty deed on Pakistan. What were they thinking? What was PC thinking? Or was she not thinking at all?

I understand that @priyankachopra just an actress and has to do what she is told to "earn money" but no regards for Nation but Rohingyas her tears drop? Either claim to be doll for money or be human and human doesn't mean sympathy for Rohingya alone but nation as well

However, some have spoken in support of the episode:
Also just caught #Quantico on tv, like did they really acknowledge the whole India/Pak thing. Surprised but so proud to see such an issue being highlighted

I absolutely loved season 1 of #Quantico but season 2 was way too confusing and I wasn’t a fan. So far, season 3 has exceeded my expectations👏🏼👏🏼

Priyanka Chopra has not commented on the matter so far.
Update: In a joint statement, ABC Studios and the executive producers of Quantico shared: "We would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, 'The Blood of Romeo.' The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it. She has no involvement in the casting of the show or the storylines depicted in the series."
"Quantico is a work of fiction. The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicities and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone," they added.
