Adnan Sami will make his Bollywood debut with a romantic musical

Singer Adnan Sami has made it to Bollywood and he's gearing up for his acting debut across the border.

Mumbai Mirror reported that the singer will be part of a romantic musical adventure titled Afghan. He'll be playing the role of an Afghan musician who travels to India after facing discrimination in his hometown.

The film seems to centre on a musician looking to find a home outside of Afghanistan where he can practice his art without religious laws and regulations imposed upon music.

Although the singer says he hasn't visited Afghanistan in years and he's never acted in a film before, facing the camera will not be hard because he can connect with his character as he's a musician with Afghan roots.

The first look is out too.

When asked whether his music career will take a backseat after making his way into Bollywood Sami replied,"No, it won’t, because it’s second nature to me. While I admire jugglers, I can’t multitask. Right now my focus is Afghan; I’m not just acting in it, I also have to compose seven songs for it."

Sammi was last seen on the big screen in Syed Noor's musical alongside his ex-wife Zeba Bakhtiar. He also had a cameo in Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Afghan is being directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao and is slated to release early next year. The film celebrates Indo-Afghan brotherhood and will be shot in India and Afghanistan.
