Maybe I am popular because I can do a bit of everything: Salman Khan
Salman Khan has been in the industry for about three decades and his fan base just keeps growing.
In an interview with Open Magazine, Sallu tried to figure out how his stardom keeps increasing.
Khan's close friend, Ashley Rebello compares the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star to Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan and explains how Salman's stardom is different from the other two Khans. "The difference between Salman and the other stars in India is that while all of them are respected and have huge followings, Salman is loved,” he says.
The Dabangg hero himself explains how he makes it a point to retain the positive characteristics of the characters he plays in the movies, within himself. "I want my film and character to be like that… like Bruce Lee. It has to be a hero, you know. A good man who people can look up to," says Khan.
He adds, “If I do a film, I should know I’m taking this character back home. I want to do those movies that will change my own personality. ‘Wow, what a man’, ‘wow, what a personality.’ I want this to happen to me. Maybe two per cent when I start… but karte, karte, till the end of the film, I want 25 per cent of the character’s qualities in my life."
Upon being asked if the star ever pondered about his popularity, Sallu replied, "Kaun sochega, boss? Chal raha hai, toh chal raha hai. (Who’ll think about it? If it’s working, it’s working). No analysis. Maybe I am popular because I can do a bit of everything. A bit of dancing, a bit of acting, a bit of action…,”
