I'll retire once I bag the National award, says Shah Rukh Khan

With Dilwale blowing up the box office, the expectations from Shah Rukh Khan's next, Fan, are higher than ever. The actor will be seen in the role of Gaurav, who looks a lot like superstar Aryan Khanna (also played by SRK obviously).

Filming for the Yash Raj project is currently on its extensive post-production and SRK recalls it was tough to transform into a 24-year-old every day with the help of prosthetics that took four hours to apply, stating it was a “very interesting and schizophrenic” experience.

The trailer for the Maneesh Sharma upcoming flick has created quite the buzz and admirers are already talking about SRK bagging all kinds of awards for his performance.

His response?

“I am just waiting for the National award as I have decided to retire after getting one.”

Gasp! Could it be true that the king wants to retire?

King Khan said he was also thrilled that he got the opportunity to play a boy based in Delhi in the film.

“I am very happy I got the opportunity to play a Delhi-based boy; I had forgotten the accent! It was good to recapture that.”

You would think playing Aryan Khanna must have been like second nature to the actor but he shares that the avatar is a much milder version of his public persona: “He's actually very quiet, unlike the flamboyance you see emanating from me like when you see me coming out on my birthday and waving at thousands of people. I don’t do the same in that film."

SRK is known to come out to greet fans who gather outside his house just to catch a glimpse of the superstar

He adds, "We have never shown the star at shooting. That’s very different. That, itself, is very internalized because that’s how I am at home; very normal and regular.”

Introducing former model Waluscha De Sousa as female lead, Fan is slated to hit cinemas on 15 April next year.
