Going loco for local: CoNatural’s Super Activs anti-pigmentation serum will help you ditch that concealer

This skincare product claims to decrease the appearance of skin pigmentation, so we put it to the test!

Healthy and glowing skin has been trending for a while now. The use of skincare has surpassed the use of makeup, with more and more people investing in an AM and PM skincare routine and I’m here for it!

With plenty of serums on the market claiming to give you a lit-from-within glow, I’m always sceptical of trying new products. After all, there are many products that can do more harm than good for your skin, especially if you are prone to acne, like me.

CoNatural has been a brand I have loved for a while now. Their face washes are gentle on the skin, while their essential oils have been utilised in my room’s humidifier. It’s safe to say that they have gained my trust! So when they came out with this new Super Activs range, I knew I had to try it. This range has six serums, each targeting a particular skin concern. I’ve already used a niacinamide, Vitamin C, and hyaluronic serum of other brands, so when adding a new serum to my routine, I went for their Anti-Pigmentation - Super Activs Skin Serum.

Before delving into the product review, a bit about my skin. I have oily and sensitive skin that’s also acne-prone — a triple whammy. I had cystic acne a couple of years back, which has mostly cleared up now, thanks to the many anti-acne products I’ve used over the years. While I don’t have active acne anymore, I do have some pigmentation left behind from the scarring and some general pigmentation on the high points of my face — cheekbones, under my eyes, and forehead — from years of sun damage, so I wanted a product that could potentially reverse that.

The Super Activs Anti-Pigmentation Serum is priced at Rs1,199 for 30ml of product, but I managed to get it on sale from Naheed Supermarket for Rs950. This product can be purchased on the CoNatural website, as well as at leading supermarkets that stock CoNatural products. The product’s packaging is chic and minimalistic. I also like the fact that the bottle containing the product is dark, protecting the serum inside from UV damage and maintaining its efficacy.

According to the CoNatural website, this serum is said to help decrease hyperpigmentation accentuated by age and stress by reducing the overproduction of melanin, while eliminating dark spots. The product is also free from parabens, triclosans, phthalates, SLS, and silicones.

I’ve used this serum consistently for a month now. While I typically like to apply such serums at night, the lightweight formula of this product allowed me to wear this during the day too. I’ve been using it twice a day after my cleanser, followed by a moisturiser and an SPF during the day. The product applies really well on the skin and is immediately absorbed, without leaving a film on the skin, making for a smooth makeup application afterwards. The serum does not have any scent, making it comfortable to wear throughout the day as well.

In fact, the serum on its own provides a luminous effect on the skin. As for the anti-pigmentation claims, I have noticed a marked difference in my skin, to the extent that I’m using little to no concealer these days. I also find this product to be incredibly affordable compared to others on the market.

I’d rate this serum 4.7 stars rounded up to 5.
