Going loco for local: Organster’s soap proves charcoal is good for more than just BBQ

There’s something to be said for keeping things simple and no-fuss, especially when it comes to skincare. There are some people whose routine includes multiple products and their skin is able to not only endure them but also be better because of them — that’s unfortunately not the case with me. In fact, having had some horrible reactions to some seemingly everyday products, I’m extremely apprehensive about trying new ones.

Also, over time, I’ve realised that no product can miraculously cure acne or spots left as a reminder of your skin turning on you. When it comes to washing my face, what I look for is something that rids me of the dirt accumulated over the day and leaves my skin feeling fresh in its immediate aftermath.

Organster’s Charcoal Soap does just that. It’s not harsh on the skin, the lather is formed quite easily and it washes off without leaving super dark stains all over the sink, as can be the case with other charcoal products.

The page description says it detoxifies skin from impurities (check), deep cleanses open pores (I won’t say deep clean but yeah, cleans for sure), pulls out toxins (I’ll take their word for it), refreshes the skin (absolutely), helps acne, psoriasis, eczema (not sure if it helps but it didn’t give me any of those despite using it every day, so that’s a win!), and is 100 per cent organic (again, I’ll have to take their word for it). The only point that left me puzzled is the last one — “Show your decency and elegance” — but that just means they need better copy writers.

For Rs650, I’d give it 3.5 rounded up to 4 out of 5 (currently on Azadi sale for Rs520 as I type this on Aug 18).
