Going loco for local: Colish’s Amber Saffron perfume is a blend for exotic summer nights
On a fine summer morning in 2009, after a deep 12-hour-long slumber, I woke up to the welcoming scent of warm sandalwood and woody amber. Vacations had begun, holiday homework was complete and the only thing I had to worry about was choosing a movie to binge watch. Ah, those were the days.
Almost 14 years later, these memories were locked up at the back of my mind, nearly forgotten. But when my colleague came up to me with Colish’s Amber Saffron perfume at work the other day, a whiff of the homely scent transported me back to those carefree summer days — days that we rarely get to experience a decade later. The nostalgia overpowered my stubborn laziness and I decided to write a review.
Among several other elements, the thing I like the most about the perfume is its exquisite and comforting scent. It is mix of sandalwood, roses, amber, saffron and earthly patchouli. There is something very familiar about the scent, but you just can’t pinpoint what. And while this may be frustrating at first, the fragrance eventually wins you over with its tranquil yet mysterious aura.
Colish Amber Saffron is definitely the one for exotic summer nights. But even if you are wearing it to work, it will last nearly six hours, which is another plus point for me.
Along with the perfume also came a hand and body lotion with the same fragrance. Together, they are a match made in heaven. While the underlying tones of the lotion are very similar to the perfume, it is softer, warmer and moisturises your skin well. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I have used in my life, but it is a good pass.
The only con of the package, in my opinion, is the price. The perfume alone costs over Rs7,000 and if you add the Rs1,900 lotion to it, the package will cost you Rs10,000. In comparison to its competitors, the deal I feel is a tad more expensive than what I would usually spend. But then, when I look at the scent and longevity, spending a few more bucks than usual seems worth it.
I would rate Colish Amber Saffron perfume and lotion a solid four out of five.
