Many in the entertainment industry have raised their voices against the brutal killing of qawwal Amjad Sabri, however, AR Rahman has a different approach to the matter.

"We should actually stop talking about all this," said the Academy Award winning composer in an interview with Times of India.

He believes that the more one talks about it, the more it aggravates people. "It makes people angry and anger is a branch of foolishness," he explained.

Rahman added that outward expression doesn't lend any change to a person and thus, doesn't help in such situations.

"You cannot change what is happening in the world outside. You have to keep looking within and working on self-refinement and strive to make people happy. You have to keep doing what you're doing, change yourself, and the world will change," said Rahman.

As unfortunate events keep coming up on news channels, the songwriter feels music can help transcend the unpleasantness.

For him, music is the cure for everything. "You see so many things these days — on television, on the internet, and all around us. Good things, bad things... more bad things, in fact. But if you just close your eyes and shut everything out and listen to music, it transports you, it takes you out of the chaos and makes you think even of things that are unthinkable."

Sir, do not agree with you, if everyone starts doing like this , then who should clean the dirt in the society . Not so sure what you meant by this statement . We can keep silence but some people may treat this differently , What should Karnchi Police do, simple listen to music & leave the killer roaming, not so sure. I would appreciate that law should take its course and culprits should be punished without much news in media.

By behaving as if Evil does not exist evil does not go away but gains strength and ends up harming more humans. The Brave fight the evil and the weak and the meek and the selfish men just protects themselves. And some of them, find reasons to justify their selfishness.

What a fine way of thinking, finer way indeed of remembering Amjad Sabri, through his music and that of others. With love and good thoughts for his children, wife, mother and all other loved ones..

Sure, close your eyes and ears and the problem will go away. Typically living in denial. Problems need to be discussed and addressed. Closing your eyes and ears will only make them bigger.

Good way to look at it. These days too many people have opinions on topics they don't know about it. Everybody should worry about themselves and how they are instead of passing judgement on others.

@xyz-Indian I do not think Mr. Rahman is asking the law enforcement to stop doing their job. He is asking civilians to get on with their work and do better in their duties. He is not politician. He is simply expressing his thoughts how to get over the madness and senseless killing of an artist by the evil.

What AR Rehman said sounds poetic , but is only partially true. It is true that if you focus on self refinement, and everybody does it , the world will be a better place. However, when injustice happens, it is the duty of decent people everywhere to raise their voice against it. Not doing so will also encourage extremists.

Have seem him many times in Culver city Los Angeles. Particularly at Friday prayers. This little guy with big celebrity status is such a humble man that you cannot believe it. A great fan of Fahim Bhai's biryani here also. His thought about the killing of Amjad Sabri is very articulate.

First they came for communists. We didn't speak up because we were not communists. Then they came for Jews. We didn't speak up because we were not Jews. Then they came for union leaders. We didn't speak up because we were not union leaders. Then they came for us but there was no one left to speak up.

I have Utmost respect for the Musical genious AR Rahman but my friend got it wrong here. There are certain values in life where people had to take stand for what they believe in. Things like Racism, Terrorism are just unacceptable. Keeping silent in situations like these are like endorsing them. Emotionally intelligent people register their disapproval with all the might they have to make it a point that this is offensive, displeasing , improper and lousy for our society. Amjad Sabri should be remembered by the People of Pakistan and the world over for this Musical genious just like AR Rahman would be.

" Today they are saying do what we do otherwise God will punish you, tomorrow they will say do what we do otherwise WE will kill you"-Voltaire. Surely we never had that sort of a foresight but SIr closing eyes and doing nothing about it - Will that be the right type of tribute to hundreds of young lads and officers in the law enforcement agencies who have laid their lifes & are still doing it day in &bout ?
