Aamir Liaquat’s third wife Dania Shah arrested by FIA in Lodhran
Dania Shah, the third wife of the late Aamir Liaquat, the politician and televangelist, has been arrested by the FIA from her home in Punjab’s Lodhran.
She is being investigated in a case relating to the release of an “obscene” video of Liaquat. The video in question — not independently verified but also not called fake by Liaquat — featured him in a state of complete undress in his home, allegedly after the consumption of an illegal substance. This video was leaked a couple of days after news broke of the dissolution of his third marriage to Shah.
The case was filed against her by Liaquat’s daugther, Dua Aamir. According to the FIA, the complaint was verified and an enquiry was initiated for further investigation. During the enquiry it came on record that Shah recorded “obscene” videos of Liaquat “with the intention to humiliate him” and during several YouTube interviews, she displayed the same video.
The case was registered under sections 20, 21 and 24 of the PECA, 2016 on October 10, 2022. The interim charge sheet was submitted before a court on November 1.
Shah was arrested by an FIA team from Karachi’s Cyber Crime Wing. She was presented in court in Karachi to obtain her remand.
Liaquat, a former MNA, passed away in Karachi on June 9, 2022. Following his sudden death, the police had said an autopsy would be conducted but performed only a preliminary examination before relinquishing custody of the body to his family after they refused an autopsy. He was buried the following day. On June 21, a court ordered that his body be exhumed.
Shah was Liaquat’s third wife and in May, less than a month before his death, she announced their separation. In several interviews after the announcement, she accused him of abuse and mistreatment.
