George Clooney and Julia Roberts are reuniting on the big screen
Hollywood actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts are all set to star together in British director and producer Ol Parker’s romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise.
Clooney and Roberts — who last starred together in films Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Money Monster (2016) — will play a divorced couple who head to Bali, Indonesia to stop their daughter from marrying someone she just met, something her parents did as well when they were younger. The film's cast includes Billie Lourd, Lucas Bravo, Amanda O’Dempsey, Rowan Chapman, Murran Kain and Vanessa Everett.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for Ticket to Paradise was unveiled during CinemaCon, happening in Los Angeles from April 25 till today (April 28). The trailer highlighted the estranged couple's amusing attempts at thwarting their daughter's wedding.
In a previous interview to Deadline. Clooney expressed excitement at doing at a rom-com after a long time. “Well, this one is something special," he said about the film. "This guy named Ol Parker is a really wonderful writer and director, and he wrote us a script, and I haven’t done a romantic comedy really since One Fine Day [1996],” he said.
“I’ve done some sort of snarky ones, you know, and in this one, Julia and I just get to be mean to each other in the funniest way, and the minute I read it I called Julia, and I said, ‘Did you get this?’ and she said, ‘Yeah,’ and I said ‘Are you going to do it?’ and she goes ‘Are you going to do it? and I said, ‘Yeah, if you do it.’ So, it was just one of those very lucky things.
“Julia is just fantastic in it, and this wonderful actor named Lucas Bravo, who’s just absolutely the funniest thing in the movie,” Clooney added. “It’s just a really fun, fun, fun cast all the way around. We’re having a great time.”
Ticket to Paradise had been forced to pause filming in January due to rising Covid-19 cases in Queensland, Australia where the film was being shot at the time. Some members of the cast and crew also contracted the virus and everyone was sent home as a result, according to Deadline sources.
The film is due to be released on October 21.
