5 ways to improve the taste and health benefits of bulletproof coffee

Healthy eaters go to any lengths to maintain their lifestyle - we know we do.

In recent times, the ketogenic diet has gained popularity for weight loss and general wellness. It is a low-carbohydrate diet in which you can eat high-fat foods with some amounts of protein, with a negligible amount of carbs.

If there's anything that fans of keto love about the diet, it's the fact that it endorses the use of coffee!

However, keto dieters do not add creamers or sugar to their favourite cuppa.

Here's a few ways to add a little twist to the keto-friendly caffeinated beverage.

What is keto coffee?

Keto coffee, also known as bulletproof coffee, has plain butter, coconut oil or clarified butter added to it, which - proponents believe - help burn body fat more efficiently.

It may sound unappetizing at first, but keto coffee can actually taste good, if made the right way. The drink is also consumed by dieters who follow intermittent fasting, as coffee can be a great energy source and helps with satiety.

How to make bulletproof coffee taste good

Adding oil to coffee can seem off-putting, but there are quite a ton of recipes that ensure your keto coffee tastes yum.

The trick is to use healthy and wholesome ingredients to enhance the taste and texture.

Here are some ways you can make your keto coffee more enjoyable:

The one with vanilla

If you are a vegan or allergic to dairy, gluten, or eggs, you can try this creamer that not only tastes amazing, but is keto-friendly.

For a 30 ml serving, you need ¾ cup coconut cream, ¾ cup water, one teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon stevia.

Coconut cream is best for adding extra fat and calories to your beverage, and is an excellent source of vitamins, minerals, copper, folate and potassium. You can get that heavenly taste of vanilla goodness without having to compromise on your diet.

The one for the cappuccino lovers

While this recipe doesn’t have a high-fat content, it is still delicious and healthier than a traditional cappuccino.

Just get ¼ cup of coconut milk and froth it using a milk frother. After preparing the milk, make ⅓ of a cup of espresso, and then add the hot milk into it. Hold back the foam using a spatula or knife. Keep pouring till one-third of the cup is empty. You can then add the remaining foam on top of it.

The one with ice and avocado

Here’s a rendition of your classic iced coffee, but with wholesome ingredients!

It is called the iced coffee protein shake, and makes for a great pre-workout drink as it is filled with the right nutrients.

To make this magic beverage, you will need half a cup of cold brew, ¼ of your choice of milk, half a frozen avocado, one scoop of protein powder, and then finally, some ice.

Blend all the ingredients, and your shake is ready.

We say all it takes is a little creativity to transform the taste of your keto coffee.
