Yasra Rizvi pledges to raise a feminist son and here's how she's going to do it
Yasra Rizvi has always been one to speak her mind and make sure the projects she chooses to do on screen reflect her beliefs and now she wants to bring that activism into the real world. The Churails star has pledged to make the world a better place by focusing on raising her son the right way.
Having recently given birth, the new mommy has vowed to raise a feminist son.
"I vow to raise a son who is kind, humane, fair, compassionate and respectful. A man with whom women, children, transgenders, other men, animals, every living being feels safe," she said. "Who is not threatened by women and their agency, who doesn't take their vulnerability as licence to exploit, whose first response is to empathise, who doesn't blame the victim."
Rizvi said her son will be raised to understand that human life is precious and not anyone's to take. "[I will raise a son] who knows that every human being has the right to choose, prosper and shine, who knows that he can't touch or for that matter speak to anyone without their consent, who UNDERSTANDS that being a man is not a privilege it's a responsibility!" she exclaimed.
She then said that she has no idea what we can do about the monsters live among us or the sham of a society we are a part of, but her solution other than protesting is to be part of the change needed for a better future and begin by starting today.
"Be more mindful while raising your sons, pay that extra attention to your boys and what they are getting away with, STOP them now from becoming the problem tomorrow," she said.
Rizvi and her husband Abdul Hadi married in 2016 and Ibn e Adam is their first child.
