7 roles we believe no one else could've done except for Ranveer Singh

A powerhouse of talent, fireball of energy and one of the highest paid actors in Bollywood, Ranveer Singh just completed 10 years of working in India's film fraternity, already having given audiences a lifetime of performances to remember.

Taking to Instagram, the Band Baaja Baraat actor celebrated the achievement by visiting a place of immense importance.

"To commemorate my 10-year milestone in the movies, it was only fitting that I return to the sacred chamber of dreams. It was marvellous," he said, posing with open arms inside a cinema hall, donning a far from unusual funky outfit: Gucci separates, 3D glasses and of course, a facemask during the pandemic!

A tribute to his decade-long entertainment, here are seven times the actor blew us away with his exceptional craft.

When he played Sultan Allahuddin Khilji in Padmaavat

Undoubtedly one of his finest performances, Singh blew us away as he transformed into the ruthless Khilji, completely captivating the audience with his exceptional expressions and embodiment of a villian. According to reports, the actor sought out psychiatric treatment to overcome the dark mindset he had to derive inspiration from while playing the heavy character.

As Romeo in Ram-Leela

The Hindi-adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and one of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's masterpieces, Ranveer Singh as Ram swept audiences off their feet, as he danced to the rhythm of 'Nagada Sang', celebrating some seriously intense chemistry with his co-star and real life partner, Deepika Padukone.

Our homeboy rapper in Gully Boy

As we watched a small-town boy daring to dream big and working hard to achieve his goals, we realised no one could do justice to the role better than Singh. From playing a final-year college student Murad to singing the soundtracks himself in real life, the film won a record of 13 Filmfare Awards with Ranveer bagging Best Actor, and well, well-deserved!

A supportive brother in Dil Dhadakne Do

While Kabir Mehra was the only son and ray of light for his desi patriarchal home, he sure brought some sunshine in all of our lives, as he sat cracking jokes, shipping two innocent lovers and defending his sister's choices in what was a fun-filled, relatable family drama.

Con-artist in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl

A hero and a villain all at once, Ranveer played Prince Charming to not one but four actresses in the film, and convincingly with each one of them, especially in the promotional sequence for 'Thug Le', where we knew the hero definitely knew how to dance.

Ambitious Bittu in Band Baja Baraat

As Bittu Sharma completely transformed into a typical Delhi-residing young adult who has hopes and dreams without having the means; he made us dance to 'Ainwayein Ainwayein' for a solid two shaadi seasons! With his infectious energy, we can say the character was classic Singh in his essence and definitely perfect for his debut!

The conflicted Peshwa Bajirao I in Bajirao Mastani

From the mannerisms to his accent and walk, the actor truly looked like the warrior he was tasked to play. But make no mistake, this movie is a love triangle and Singh conveys his character's tragedy with triumph. He's repeatedly said in interviews that this role changed his life forever. We can see why; without a doubt, one of his most memorable ones.
