Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed recommend this competition to aspiring filmmakers

Providing an opportunity for the young generation to showcase their talent, the National Amateur Short Film Festival (NASFF) has been launched in Pakistan to provide a motivational platform for aspiring filmmakers in the country.

Seeking ingenuity and creativity, the competition hosted under the auspices of ISPR, will give locals a chance to showcase the vibrant culture, identity, philanthropy and colours boasting across the nation, allowing audiences all across the world to view Pakistan in its true essence.

According to the guidelines, the competition will be accepting original submissions for Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental Films, in Urdu, English or regional languages (given that subtitles can be provided in English).

"There are so many young artists who come to me all the time wanting to direct, act, write stories etc. I’m so glad that I can be part of this initiative along with all my other colleagues," said Mahira Khan, as she announced her affiliation with the festival, acknowledging it as a "great step forward in stimulating the youth of Pakistan".

Joining her as brand ambassadors are other popular names such as Humayun Saeed, Zara Noor Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Farhan Saeed, Wahaj Ali, Bilal Abbas Khan, Mashal Khan, Qasim Khan and Ayub Khoso.

"If you have a knack for films and television and want to produce some quality content, then this platform is your stepping stone," encouraged Humayun.

The competition will host a special category 'Best Mobile Phone Film', with high achievers of the competition receiving a scholarship for advanced studies in top rated film schools across the world.

"Getting an opportunity to study your creative field with a full scholarship at one of the top film making institutions in the world would be a dream come true, right?" exclaimed Iqra, saying she was ecstatic to be a part of the initiative.

The finale for the festival will be held in April 2021. Wishing best of luck to everyone applying!
