In Churails, a girl gang comes together to expose cheating husbands

Churails is a story about four women from different walks of life who come together to open a covert detective agency to expose their cheating husbands among the city's elites.

Exploring issues of child brides and abuse, forced marriages, domination of race and class, poverty that leads to suicide and crime, deplorable labour conditions as well as our collective obsession with fair complexion; the series is expected to uncover the harsh realities of our society.

"A show that is the voice of women!" reveals Sarwat Gillani, as she spills details about the thriller in a conversation with Images.

"I play Sara who is a criminal lawyer by profession," says Gillani. "Sara lets go her career ambitions after marriage and settles into domestic servitude. She is fully immersed into the lives of her husband and children, but her 'perfect life' mirage shatters when she discovers her husband with multiple infidelities."

The story then revolves around her journey of vengeance and self-discovery to take back control of her life and choices.

Sarwat also spoke about how the particular character pushed her to the edge, making her stronger and bolder.

"The themes of women's rights and societal issues will be portrayed as thought-provoking realities, as questions so the audience can think about what is happening and how it can be fixed first on a personal, and then on a social level."

"My character is beautifully written. Asim Abbasi is an amazing writer, and an even better director, and does phenomenal work. It was a wonderful opportunity to work with him," she added.

Shot in the summer of 2019, the cast of Churails includes Sarwat Gillani, Nimra Bucha, Yasra Rizvi and Meher Bano in lead roles.

"A churial is somebody who's a strong, independent, measured, smart and intelligent woman. So if this is the definition of churail, then yes, I am one," says Gillani.

With 10 episodes in the first season, the series will be releasing on August 11 and will be available to watch on the virtual platform and web channel, Zee5.
