This pandemic has forced Johnny Depp to finally join Instagram
It appears that the global coronavirus pandemic has urged superstar Johnny Depp to finally join Instagram and grace his fans with a cover of John Lennon's Isolation.
The veteran actor made his debut on Thursday, and instantly amassed more than 1.5 million followers on the very first day that he joined the social media website.
The picture captured him sitting on a bench, surrounded by candles in what seemed like a lit cave.
"Hello everyone, filming something for you now... gimme me a minute," the actor posted, following which was an eight-minute video where he thanked his fans for offering him unwavering support, while also dropping shade on his feud with ex-wife, Amber Heard.
The star then revealed his reason for joining the site, referring to the coronavirus pandemic as the "invisible enemy who has already caused immeasurable tragedies and enormous damage to people’s lives".
“I feel we need to try to help each other throughout these dark times, these trying times – for those we love, for our community, for ourselves, for the world and for the future,” he encouraged his followers.
Following, he expressed his love for music and sang a cover of John Lennon's 1970 song Isolation.
He further revealed he had been recording over the past few years with former Yardbirds guitarist and one of his “all-time guitar heroes,” Jeff Beck, and there was no better time to release this cover than the gloomy pandemic.
"Johnny and I have been working on music together for a while now and we recorded this track during our time in the studio last year. We weren’t expecting to release it so soon but given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that people are going through in these challenging times, we decided now might be the right time to let you all hear it," posted Beck.
"You’ll be hearing more from Johnny and me in a little while but until then we hope you find some comfort and solidarity in our take on this Lennon classic," he told his fans.
