Ali Sethi is gearing up to pay tribute to Farida Khanum

The Salman Sufi Foundation wants to honour iconic artists of Pakistan.

The organisation, known for launching Women on Wheels, has launched their latest initiative called AikShaam, which they have dubbed as "a Pakistani yesteryear artist appreciation initiative."

According to the foundation, "the initiative will feature one legend every two months at the iconic Alhamra Art Center, who are partners in this venture. A legend of Pakistan from music, film or TV will be invited and honored; a current artist will pay tribute to them by singing their songs or performing their roles in front of them and the audience. There will also be a Q & A session with the legend."

"The initiative is being launched to revive the dying culture of artist appreciation who have made remarkable contributions in their fields."

The first legend they’re paying homage to is Farida Khanum, who will get a tribute from Ali Sethi, also her disciple.

“Grateful we can pay tribute to my inspiration and mentor, a true treasure of the Subcontinent,” said Sethi about the event.

The first AikShaam will take place on 4 March.
