I draw the line when my character is questioned, says Mehwish Hayat to trolls

Mehwish Hayat doesn't care if you think she didn't deserve to be honoured with a Tamgha-i-Imtiaz — the who's who of the Pakistani entertainment industry have already defended her against the criticism.

But what she will no longer put up with is trolls questioning her morals and character.

In a series of tweets, the actress hit back at all the people who start to cast doubts on a woman's moral compass the moment she gets recognition:

Speaking to Images, Mehwish reiterated, "Why is it that the moment a woman especially from our industry wins something or is recognised in Pakistan, her achievements are overlooked and doubts are cast on her character. Why is this? I don’t see the men who have been awarded being questioned in the same way. Are women in Pakistan any less capable of contributing to the betterment of our country?"

It's unbelievable that even after countless contributions to Pakistani cinema and television, haters still think she needs to justify why she deserves this civil honour.

She's being honoured with the greats and the reasons for that are evident; Mehwish, who has been working in the fraternity for over a decade, has consistently appeared in some of the most game-changing, impactful and highest grossing movies in Pakistan (Load Wedding, Na Maloom Afraad, Actor in Law and so many more dramas as well).

We don't see people on social media raising eyebrows about the credibility of any of the male recipients. So why do women in the country have to prove themselves again and again and again?

We wish Mehwish Hayat even more success in the years to come!
