Shah Rukh Khan thanks Aamir Khan for Rakesh Sharma biopic

The Rakesh Sharma biopic, which was initially meant to star Aamir Khan, now features Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and he couldn't be more thankful.

Film producer Ronnie Screwvala confirmed to Indian press that Shah Rukh will play the lead role for the film tentatively titled Saare Jahan Se Accha, all thanks to Aamir Khan who recommended SRK for the part after turning it down himself.

SRK is set to take on the challenge of playing the role of Rakesh Sharma, a former Indian Air Force pilot and the first Indian citizen to travel to outer space. But before prepping for the role, he made sure to thank fellow star Aamir for making it happen.

In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, SRK said, "I thank Aamir [Khan] who was to do the film for calling me and telling me about the role as it would suit me. Whenever I get the time, I will try and spend time with him (Rakesh Sharma)."

For Shah Rukh, it's all about timing. He wholeheartedly believes that being at the right place at the right time makes a difference and helps a person's journey move on forward.

"If you are at the right place and at the right time and meet the right people, it will change things for you," said Khan. I met Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar who are doing a good job. We have together done the kind of films we wanted to do. In the future, we will be doing even better work. It's not about a phase but also the kind of work you do in that phase will also help you. Somewhere down the line, I feel being at the right time and right place is of utmost importance."

Saare Jahan Se Accha is being directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala under Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films respectively.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala had previously spoken about the film, saying, “It (the script) has been with us for quite a long time. The film will go on floors early next year. We will make an official announcement soon."

After the unsuccessful venture that was Zero, we're hoping this biopic puts Shah Rukh Khan back on track.
