Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas criticised by PETA for animal abuse
The Nickyanka wedding has been nothing short of spectacular, but did Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas lose sight of their values in planning the extravaganza?
PETA India has criticised the celeb couple for using horses and elephants during their wedding:
According to reports, Nick entered the wedding ceremony on a horse and the couple later took a tour of the venue while seated on an elephant.
PETA says that "elephants live in chains and horses are controlled with whips and spiked bits" to perform as needed at weddings and that their wedding "was not a happy day for animals".
According to PETA India CEO Manilal Valliyate, "Priyanka has been ill served by not being advised of the firestorm that would be caused by participating in animal abuse".
"It doesn't make a person look big or glamorous to promote cruelty to animals who has no choice but to serve. It makes them look small. Overwhelmingly, these days PETA is delighted to see so many celebrities feel passionately about protecting animals," Valliyate said in a statement.
Moreover, Priyanka has been bashed for the fireworks that lit up her wedding when she has previously urged her fans to avoid using firecrackers during Diwali to reduce pollution and spare the suffering of asthma sufferers like her.
The couple has yet to respond to the criticism.
