Nawazuddin Siddiqui begins shooting for upcoming wedding comedy flick

Nawazuddin has made a name for himself with intense characters from Gangs of Wasseypur and Manto but it looks like he's trying something new now.

The actor is set to star in upcoming romcom titled Motichoor Chaknachoor, a film about desi weddings with a few laughs on the way. The shooting has already begun.

A source tells Pune Mirror, "It’s a romcom with some family drama and revolves around the odd couple. It will be shot entirely in Bhopal with the first schedule wrapping up on November 10. The film got its title from the fact that motichoor laddoos are served at weddings."

Nawazuddin will be starring alongside Athiya Shetty for the project. Shetty, who made her debut in 2015's Hero, will be playing a small-town north Indian woman and has been working on her dialect for the part.

Motichoor Chaknachoor will also mark the directorial debut of Debamitra Hassan, who has been working on the film's script for the past three years and "plans to wrap up the film by the first week of December."

The film's release date has not been announced as yet.
