We took along a celebrity stylist for last-minute Eid shopping and here's what we found
Remember the time when Chand Raat was the occasion when you shopped your whole Eid look from clothes to chooris, shoes to earrings?
Who has the energy and stamina for that now, right?
Not us, we realised, when we hit the mall to do some last-minute Eid shopping yesterday. Let this be a lesson for all: Eid looks aren't exactly easy to shop off-the-rack, especially when everything you had your eyes on earlier is sold out.
Luckily, we had the help of a professional! Stylist Amal Qadri accompanied us on our Eid jora hunt — and she helped us put together three looks for different occasions. Win!
A formal ensemble for family day
The first day of Eid tend to be fam-jams and we prefer to wear something traditional and elegant (something the khalas would admire) yet comfy. It's too hot to compromise on the latter!
So walking straight past all the stores stocked up on cotton net kurtas, Amal took us to Generation to pick out a gharara with a cute top.
Here's what we found:
The hot pink gharara screamed festive and the top had just enough embellishment to qualify as Eid wear. We love those buttons in the back!
Cost: The two-piece ensemble cost Rs6000 which we think is a steal for something that has kaam on it!
We bought earrings from Mango and a clutch from Sana Safinaz to complete the look.
Cost: The earrings cost Rs1990 and the clutch was for Rs2699.
Total cost of look: Just over Rs10000 — eeks!
A pastel outfit for Eid lunch
Eid isn't over until our moms fire up the ovens and invite all and sundry for lunch. So we were on the lookout for a pastel kurta for the daytime.
Here's what we found:
We quite liked the cool tones of this Beechtree kurta and you can never have enough wardrobe staples so we invested in some black tulip pants from Nishat Linen too.
Cost: Rs4850 for the kurta and Rs1950 for the pants
To add a pop of colour to the outfit, Amal picked out these matching rose gold accessories.
Cost: Rs350 for the Beechtree earrings and Rs2190 for the Outfitters shoes
Total cost of look: Rs9340
A casual look for a hang with friends
Eid's as good a time as any for catching up with friends, so a more casual look is in order.
This threaded turquoise tunic from Sapphire was fun enough for the occasion and the printed pants would be a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
Cost: Rs1800 for the tunic and Rs1490 for the pants.
We picked up this floral clutch for added oomph and chic silver earrings from Sapphire to complete the look.
Cost: Rs2790 for the clutch and Rs1490 for the earrings
Total cost of look: Rs7570
