Sexual abuse isn't about sex, it's about power: Priyanka reacts to Weinstein scandal

Priyanka Chopra is super busy these days.

The actress has two films on her hands (A Kid Like Jake, Isn't It Romantic), a hit television show (Quantico) as well as her own production company, along with a self-funded foundation for heath and education. No wonder she's a woman who won't be "put in her lane."

Speaking at the 2017 Marie Claire Power Trip, Chopra shared: "We watch the news and look for things that will be positive and that the world will be a better place but unfortunately, the world is not.”

The actress spoke to the news that recently shook Hollywood, addressing the Harvey Weinstein allegations about sexual harassment and assault.

She shared, "It's not just about sexuality. It's not about sex. It's about power." She further likened Hollywood to a "big boys club" where women are scared for their careers if they don't appease men: "The easiest thing to take away from a woman is her work."

"It's an isolating feeling which is why it's so incredible to see so many women come together and say me too, you are not alone," said the 35-year-old actress.

When asked if there are any Harvey Weinsteins in Bollywood, the Baywatch actress said, "I don't even think there's just one Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood, they're everywhere, not just here or in India but all over the world."

Chopra suggest that the solution for women is power in numbers. Strong women supporting strong women, cultivating a safer environment for future generation of us ladies.

"The fact that we can be compassionate and at the same time tough are strengths only women have. Don't allow anyone to tell you that you need to dress a certain way. When you open your mouth, you deliver," she added.
