What to wear this wedding season on every occasion, hot off the FPW runway

Now that Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) is over, we can take some time to reflect on all the showcases we saw.

With some designers presenting some stellar new collections, it can be a little overwhelming trying to decide your outfit of choice for the upcoming wedding season.

A big part of getting it right is dressing for the occasion; you're obviously not going to wear a mehndi outfit to a valima.

Fret not, we have just the guide to help you decide what to wear on each occasion!

For the nikkah: Misha Lakhani

More often than not, nikkahs are intimate family affairs so one usually doesn't wear really heavy joras. The preferred colour palette leans towards nude or ivory tones or just breezy pastel colours in general. That being said, if light hues aren't your thing, you can always add a pop of colour without being OTT.

Particularly digging the crimson culottes (pictured middle)

With elegant and simple embroidery, some pieces from Misha's collection this year seemed to be tailormade for new blushing brides.

For the mehndi: Wardha Saleem

Full disclosure, no shame: mehndis are our favourite part of weddings, whether we're attendees or the bride. Needless to say, we're a little extra for these.

You want to opt for bright colours that pop for this night full of dancing; we spotted some stunning lehnga cholis with intricate embroidery and let's just say, they're making us want to get married!

You're sure to feel like a princess in this royal blue Wardha Saleem number (pictured right)

Some ensembles in particular by Wardha Saleem from her aptly named collection, 'Dholak' had us picking our jaws off the floor. We'd definitely go a little easy on the styling though. Nevertheless, these babies are sure to get you triple-digit Instagram likes!

For the shendi (shaadi + mehndi): Sana Safinaz

Sticking to what they know best and taking it a step further, like always, this was a no-brainer.

The label's use of net tulles is very reminiscent of Zuhair Murad pieces, who we also adore!

This dreamy, contemporary collection by the designer duo had us drooling. Lots of floral detailing, adorned generously with crystals is what we like on the modern bride!

Although the pricing is not for the faint-hearted (none of these designers tags are!), these pieces are versatile yet timeless and we're sure will be worthy of becoming funky heirlooms in the future.

For the traditional shaadi bride: Tena Durrani

As a bride, it's tempting to want to wear outfits that are on trend but if you opt for classic, traditional pieces, the chances of you regretting it while looking at your wedding album years down the line are slim to none.

While Tena's crimson number are always on the money, we were also eyeing this icy blue outfit on Javeria Hanif

You can spot a Tena Durrani bride from miles away; nothing is better suited for the girly girl with an old soul.

For the valima: Suffuse

Greys, dull gold and silvers are popular choices for usually the last wedding event, which is the valima.

A little gold goes a long way

We loved how Suffuse used mostly single colours and added dimension to their outfits with pleats and different shiny, sheer fabrics.

For your post-wedding party: Saira Shakira

You know when you pretend like the function is over, say bye to family and then have a shindig with your friends like family? Saira Shakira got you sorted for that!

Saira Shakira's colletion was a breath of fresh air on the ramp

Her delicate yet snazzy, bold aesthetic will make you feel confident and every piece is just so good on its own, it'll take away all the stress of styling; you really don't have to do much.

For the musical night: Saira Rizwan

Although all your wedding functions should be one you should enjoy, this one is probably the most laidback. Wear whatever you want or wear something comfortable, your options are unlimited.

Sleek and modern cuts by Rizwan; sometimes, less is more

We're particularly digging this black sari by Saira Rizwan but some of her other formals also fit the bill for this event, embodying a sense of relaxed elegance. For someone who likes to keep it stylish and fierce, this label provides the perfect solution.

With all the designers bringing their A-game to the runway, it's going to be a tough choice but we hope we made it a tad bit easier for you! Happy shopping!
