Mohsin Hamid's Exit West shortlisted for Man Booker Prize

Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid's novel Exit West has made the shortlist for the Man Booker Prize.

Exit West is Hamid's fourth novel. This is the second time the writer has made it to The Man Booker shortlist; previously, his novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist was also shortlisted for the prize.

Hamid will be contending for the Man Booker Prize against five other finalists:

Paul Auster's 4321

Emily Fridlund's History of Wolves

Fiona Mozley's Elmet

George Saunders' Lincoln in the Bardo

Ali Smith's Autumn

Last month, the longlist for the literary award was revealed, which included prominent writers like Kamila Shamsie and Arundhati Roy who were nominated for their works Home Fire and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, respectively. However, the two writers did not make it to the shortlist.

Kamila congratulated her fellow writers who made it to the final list.

The winner of the 50,000-pound ($65,000) prize will be announced on October 17.
