Will Smith slams Donald Trump for being an embarrassment to America

In a press conference in Dubai for his latest film Suicide Squad, Will Smith took a jab at Donald Trump and his Islamophobic rants.

“In terms of Islamophobia in America, for me that’s why it’s important to show up [in Dubai],” he said.

According to the I Robot actor, it's important for him to be there, having fun, taking pictures so as to point out "Hey, it doesn't look like they hate me, does it?"

The actor who will be playing Deadshot in Suicide Squad feels that local filmmakers should use cinema to highlight the reality of the region and show their side of the story.

"The Middle East can't allow Fox News to be the arbiter of the imagery, you know. So cinema is a huge way to be able to deliver the truth of the soul of a place to a global audience," says Smith.

Smith, who has pointed out 'the insanity' of the 2016 presidential race on several occasions, mentions how Donald Trump actually serves to be important for his country to recognise the problem with racism.

“As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk, I think it’s good,” says Smith, adding, “We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country.”

Smith's Suicide Squad has been one of his highest grossing films but has been shot down by critics all over. Smith is not concerned about it as such.

"I feel like at this point in my career I've earned the right to fail," he says.

Suicide Squad is the latest in DC movies and also stars Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and a cameo of Ben Affleck as Batman.
