Muslim women defy Donald Trump with viral campaign #CanYouHearUsNow
Leave it to Donald Trump to hit a new low.
The presidential candidate (gulp) did not take kindly to the Democratic National Convention speech that was given by Khizr Khan, whose son Humayun Khan, an US Army Captain was killed in Iraq in 2004. Khan's wife, Ghazala joined him on stage but chose not to speak.
Of course Trump went ahead and assumed that she was not "allowed" to speak because the couple is Muslim.
In an Op-Ed in the Washington Post on Sunday, Ghazala clarified: "Donald Trump said that maybe I wasn’t allowed to say anything. That is not true. My husband asked me if I wanted to speak, but I told him I could not. My religion teaches me that all human beings are equal in God’s eyes."
Muslim women on Twitter weren't having any of it either, uh uh.
