It's raining in Karachi right now and people are totally losing it

The love/hate relationship Karachiites have with rain has been one for the books. When that first drop of rain hits the ground, we're instantly conflicted: what do we want more, rain or electricity?

At the end of the day, we know we have no choice in the matter anyway. We get out on the flooded roads and go for a drive (which turns into a swim) or make some pakoras and chai and until the phones die out, Karachiites make sure everyone knows that it's raining in their city.

Since we're not used to it, we take rather questionable precautionary measures.

Some commemorate the weather with a selfie.

Not in the rain or in front of a window or anything...just a selfie.

It makes for great Instagram material -- no filter needed!

It brings out the poet in some.

Single people were just not having any of it.

Some crank up the nostalgia with old tunes.

However, the employed start to panic; the road to home is dark and full of traffic/potholes.

The fact that there's going to be no bijli starts to quickly overpower the joy of rain.

But who cares? In typical Karachi fashion, when it rains, it pours.

You have been warned.

Oh, the irony.
