Nothing good can come out of overnight success: Adeel Chaudhry on his Bollywood debut

A low-profile Bollywood flick will be launching the film career of Pakistani singer Adeel Chaudhry.

Titled Rhythm, the film has made headlines in the past because it features a cameo by Junoon's founder/guitarist Salman Ahmed.

The lead character in the film, however, is played by Adeel. He stars as Bombay boy Rohan, who goes to study in Poland and falls in love. He uses music to woo the girl of his dreams.

Adeel has also sung and composed the music for a song in Rhythm – which was his only initial association with the film.

"I had been in touch with the director and producer to compose and sing a song. During one of our meetings, [the director] Vivek suddenly suggested that I audition for the film. He said that he'd like to give me a chance. I had no experience of acting before, so I was pretty oblivious as to what I should do. However, I auditioned for the role and they loved it. And so I began to discover my inner actor and accept the invitation to the world of cinema."

Rhythm, which has been nearly seven years in the making, is finally set set to release next month. Has the wait been frustrating for him as an actor, we wonder?

"Nothing good can come out of overnight success. I believe that if you need to make good cinema or good music, you need to take a lot of moments into perspective and wait. Wait for the right time and the right attitude and of course, consistency. That's the key! So my frustration never built up because I knew my team, I knew Vivek and I knew that come what may, if its destined to be for me, it will be for me. And whenever I feel low, I leave most of matters in God's hands and the great part is I am never disappointed!"
