Double trouble: FIR lodged against Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar!
*You'd think that Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar would have their hands full with their next films *Tamasha and Wazir respectively, but it turns out that the two Bollywood actors also have time to promote a service or two. Both stars are in hot waters for promoting an allegedly fraudulent online shopping portal, and an FIR has been lodged against the them, reported The Indian Express.
The police said that the FIR was registered by a lawyer named Rajat Bhansal against Farhan and Ranbir under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (forgery) on September 19.
The FIR against the directors of the online site www.askmebazaar.com, Sanjiv Gupta, Anand Sonbhadra, Piyush Pankaj, Kiran Kumar Sriniwas Murti and marketing officer Puja Goyal, has also been submitted.
The lawyer allegedly accused the actors of promoting a website, which failed to deliver a product within 10 days of payment.
He stressed that the superstars' promotion of the website give its customers a false sense of assurance about the website's authenticity. Concerned authorities are looking into the matter.
Although it's too early to say if the website is actually scamming its customers, the superstars must have learned their lesson. Stars not only have their reputations at stake, but also a responsibility to be familiar with a product or service before they agree to promote it.
