Gangs of Wasseypur 3 underway: Will the writer direct this time?

Anurag Kashyap, the man behind the cult crime film Gangs of Wasseypur, has thrilling news for his fans — Gangs of Wasseypur 3 is on its way. This time, however, the director's cap may be passed on to the writer, Zeeshan Quadri. The latest is that Quadri will not only be penning the script for Wasseypur 3 but also be directing it, reported *The Hindustan Times*

Quadri, who has also written the scripts for the previous two installments, revealed the news at the music launch of his directorial debut Meeruthiya Gangsters: "Now Anurag is after me to write Wasseypur 3 and told me to direct it. So I've given it a thought and have started writing the script for Wasseypur 3."

The debutant director had also played the character of 'Definite' in the second part of the series.

Despite being considered a mentor by Quadri, Anurag was unaware about Zeeshan's plans of becoming a director: "I began my career with him, so obviously I would wish that he watches the film. He is a mentor, but I hadn't told him that I'm directing a film."

However, even when Anurag learned about the film, he did not watch it. "Basically he was apprehensive that if the film didn't turn out to be good, his frank opinion about the film would hurt me. He might have thought I'll tell him, 'You didn't help in the making and now you're calling it bad'," Quadri explained.

But the Bombay Velvet director did agree later after the director of Peddlers, Vasan Bala lauded the film: "That's when Kashyap agreed to watch the film. And then he decided to sit on the edit and even decided to present the film."

Sharing his honest opinion about the glimpse of the film, Anurag said that he didn't expect Zeeshan to make a film 'as gripping as this'.

While Gangs of Wasseypur 3's script is currently being written, Meeruthiya Gangsters is slated to release on September 18.
