Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil expected to hit Pakistani screens soon

The film's release will mark the end of the informal ban on Bollywood films in Pakistan
Updated 27 Jan, 2017

The wait for Raees is still on, but Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil is expected to release here soon.

Earlier, a Hum Films official had confirmed, "Kaabil will release in cinema screens all over Pakistan on January 27." However, the company still waits to receive the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the film's screening, which has been signed, the source now reveals. "The film's screening will take a day or two as it also has to go through the censor board."

Showtimes on local cinema websites like Atrium Cinemas show that the film is expected to release on January 28.

The action thriller's screening will mark the end of the informal ban on Bollywood films in Pakistan.

The ban was announced by various cinema owners late September in response to the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA)'s ban on Pakistani actors, singers and technicians from working in India till “normalcy” returns. The ban from India was a reaction to the Uri attacks in Kashmir.

Kaabil stars Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam in a story about a blind man on a mission to avenge the murder of his girlfriend. The film has been helmed by Jazbaa director Sanjay Gupta.

With Kaabil coming out, we now just wait for the release of Shah Rukh and Mahira Khan's Raees.

A previous version of this story stated that Kaabil will release today. The story has been updated with the latest developments.

Very good movie to watch and much better than Raees. Not because I am from India and I hate Pakistan. I am not that type but I love the Professional acting of Hrithik more than the overacting of Shahrukh.

Raees should be released in Pakistan because a Pakistani actress Mahira Khan is the female lead in the film. Logic dictates that Raees should be released in Pakistan first.

@adil Its true but out of those two movies nizamuddin siddiqi perform the best as per acting is concerned. Raees is slow first half but better in the second half and kaabil makes you hook up to the screen up till the end.
