Ainak Wala Jinn's Bil Batori is ill and needs our help. Why have we forgotten her?

Update: The Pakistan Baitul Mal has pledged to donate Rs10 lacs for her treatment
Updated 06 Jan, 2017

If you were a '90s child growing up in Pakistan, there's no way you didn't watch Ainak Wala Jinn on TV at least once in your lifetime.

24 years since the cult classic aired, the flamboyant Bil Batori character remains unforgettable. But the actor Nusrat Ara Begum who played the iconic character is now struggling to strive.

After a recent paralysis attack that affected her left leg, Nusrat Begum was rushed to Lahore's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where doctors discharged her with just a prescription. The actor waited for medical aid on the steps of the hospital but no one cared to help.

Nusrat Begum, who currently resides in a one-room house, told Dawn News, “My feet are injured from all the walking, I don't have a roof over my head, I just wish someone could do something for my accommodation."

Watch the video here:

Since the news of Nusrat Begum's illness broke, the Pakistan Baitul Mal has pledged Rs10 lacs for her treatment, reported Dawn News.

While her son Amir Raza has said that she will consult doctors at Sheikh Zayed Hospital tomorrow, latest reports suggest that her treatment will begin at Combined Military Hospitals today.

Our sweet childhood memories. May she get well soon. Everybody would like to help her if any contact is found. We must respect and give value to artists. It hurts when we find someone in such a miserable state, particularly from artist community.

This drama used to empty the street. I dont think any kid of the 90s can forget her or her brother. They were more famous than the hero. So sad to know that such actors are in such poor conditions.

Tragic!! she never have thought her fate would take such turn in that age... its tragic for almost all the cast of this show..i mean nastoor jin was months back begging that any tv channel buys his show as he even sold his house for this legendary tv series remake. His kids now even cannot go to the school as he cant even pay the fee. zakoota was also struggling with his falling health and it was hard to meet the ends and now mam nusrat ara...who would have thought while appreciating this phenomenal tv series back then that all major characters will taste such bitter treat from life!!

I don't have words to express my sadness at this tragedy. Where is PTV? They made tens of millions from the advertisements that they aired because of her show. Where are the people who watched her amazing performance. She made a generation happy because of her unforgettable performances. Some one should take ownership of her plight and help her now.

let's establish a fund in a reputable bank; sans bank charges, and donate regularly so that she can at least buy herself a house and make ends meet. A small donation on a regular basis multiplies very quickly. Thank you GOP and CMH! This is indeed a very good deed. Salams and a Happy New Year 2017

She made my child hood amazing; this series is like ' Harry Potter “of Pakistan. But we as a nation are way below the level of sanity and humanity. We should not get sad on her condition but we should get sad on our national attitude and character. We lack what is expected of human being and we call our self-Muslims on the top of it. I feel so disgusted that I literally cry to see her like this. Our generation of 90's should say thank to this team as current generation doesn’t have anything like this to remember or recall when they will grow up. I am sorry Nusrat Ara Begum A.K.A "Bil Batori"
