Did you know? Van Damme thinks "all good Arabic food" is the key to great health

"[The] very smart Prophet Mohammed.., knew what was good [for] the body," said the Expendables star

Who wouldn't want to take notes from stunt champ Jean Claude Van Damme about health and fitness?

In an interview with MBC, the Expendables 2 star gave his two cents about elements of a good diet and lifestyle.

He started with the basics:

"Steroids, very bad... Vitamins, good."

He continued, "You eat good, you sleep good. If you eat meat and chicken, maybe once a week..."

He then revealed that he eats horse and falcon meat - their eyes and hearts, to be exact!

"Read, and you discover the Muslim are lots of good thing. Very smart Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). He knew what's good for the future, about the body. So look at that. Don't ask me and, believe me, you have everything there."

But his preferred diet is actually 'Arabic food'.

"Of course Arabic people don't eat horse. But I'm saying even meat, not too much eating meat. Not good. Once a week maybe maximum. And then vegetables, hummus. All good Arabic food. Middle-East. Like in the old times.'

"Look at the Muslims. Bread, almond, apple..."

"Read, and you discover the Muslim are lots of good thing. Very smart Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). He knew what's good for the future, about the body. So look at that. Don't ask me and, believe me, you have everything there."

Agree, eating too much meat is not good, once a week is good enough.

Jean Claude Van Damme is a Belgian national (from French speaking zone). Every time he comes on a tv show, he is never coherent and talks nonsense. Everyone in Belgium and France makes fun of him. He is certainly not a serious reference to be published in Dawn.

I have turned vegetarian. Meat is not good for the mind. It makes the mind angry and emotional and reactionary. Vegetarian diet keeps the mind calm and sharp. While the soldiers and sportsmen eat meat due to nature of their physical work, the military generals and think tanks and top businessmen rarely eat meat. The calm mind helps them think and plan sharply.

Don't ask me and, believe me, you have everything there." This means he has read the Holy book and has a strong message for everyone to read it themselves . Indeed Muhammad Peace be upon him and his progeny is not only the Prophet of Islam but also for the whole world of humanity and it feels good to know that the people of the whole world are coming together through extensive research to know about the best of best among the creation and to understand his universal message covering all the aspects of human existance and the discussion of food for the body is just the tip of the iceberg because there is no dreath of anything which would not be present in the treasure trove of the teachings of rhe holy Prophet. His universal message encampasses all the aspects of human existance wiz body, soul and intellect. It is we who out of our ignorance chose to contend ourselves only with the limited side of his message that is physical and remain oblivous to the more enduring sides of existance that is spuritual and intellectual sides of human existance which need to be explored through rigorours research. What do you say buddy?

@Goga Nalaik A scholar once told his student that a good advice from any source is still a good advice. Stop judging people and look at the content please. Mediterranean diet is actually really healthy. Vitamins are good for you. Its good to avoid too much meat. Olive oil, hummus, fresh vegetables and other things used in middle eastern diet are good for health as well. There is genetic testing that can tell you what vitamins and foods are good for your body. Eating like your ancestors is the key to keeping your body healthy. This is all he is trying to say. Do a little research and you will find plenty of material to support these arguments. The reason he knows this is because he has to keep himself fit for the kind of work he does.

@Sachin What a defination.'Meat not good for the mind, makes mind angry,emotional....&Vegetarian diet keeps mind calm, sharp, etc.'If you look at history and present day happenings,Buddhist monks killing of Rohingas, history in Indo-China(esp.Cambodia&Laos),Hitler(a vegetarian),and so much I can write, your theory doesnot stand a chance infront of realities.Who says that?Gandhi would go breserk if things didn't go his way.Read about his anger&stubborn behavior.By the way,I have been a strict macrobiotic vegetarian, meditating, doing yoga, doing this and that all my life, and I can tell you 100% that food&none of these have any effect on our behaviors.I just don't eat meat because I don't want to and my body says it is not food for me,simple that. Those who want to eat, they can.Who am I to tell someone what is good in their stomach.Tell mother nature, the animal kingdom.Tell lion to stop their brutality.Nothing wrong in becoming angry, emotional and reactionary

Arabic food? Maybe it's good, but the results prove otherwise. Japan has the highest life expectancy followed by the USA, so not sure what he is trying to say, when these two countries are full of meat lovers.

He made a point which we Muslims fail to realize. All the food stuff referred to in Islam e. g Olives, honey etc have medically proven to be beneficial for health.
