Shaheen Shah Afridi set to tie the knot with Shahid Afridi’s daughter on Feb 3

A source close to the family revealed that the couple is getting married before the next PSL season.
20 Dec, 2022

If Haris Rauf’s nikah ceremony came as a shocker for you, we hate to break it to you but there’s another cricketer looking to tie the knot this winter — Shaheen Shah Afridi. News of his engagement to Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha surfaced last year and now sources have confirmed that the couple will be tying the knot in a nikah ceremony on February 3, 2023.

A source close to the Afridi family confirmed that the nikah ceremony of Shaheen and Ansha will be held in Karachi on Feb 3, before the next season of the Pakistan Super League starts.

The source also revealed that the rest of the events will be held some time later.

The bowler faced a lot of challenges this year, with the most recent being his injury during the T20 final against England. The left-armer was forced off-field in his third over after a landing on his right knee while taking a catch to dismiss Harry Brook.

He had joined the tournament after what seemed like an accelerated rehabilitation of the knee ligament injury he suffered in July during the second Sri Lanka Test series.

Shaheen plays for the national cricket team as well as PSL’s Lahore Qalandars alongside Haris Rauf, Fakhar Zaman, Afghan Rashid Khan, Abdullah Shafique, David Wiese, Kamran Ghulam, Harry Brook, Jordan Cox, Liam Dawson, Sikandar Raza, Hussain Talat, Dilbar Hussain, Tahir Baig, Ahmed Daniyal, Shawaiz Irfan and Jalat Khan. The HBL PSL 8 will run from Feb 9 to March 19, 2023.

To all the ignorant people making comments about cousins marrying each other, Afridi is the name of a Pashtun tribe that straddles the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Shaheen and Shahid belong to the same tribe, which doesn’t mean they are related.

@ the knob heads commenting here. Do some research before commenting. Shaheen afridi and Shahid afridi are not blood related. They only share the same last name because they belong to the same tribes. It's the same as Rajput or jutt. Not all of them are related even if they have the same surname

@Parsa and even if it is a cousin marriage, so what? It's common in Pakistan and allowed by Islam. Nothing wrong with it, unless done repetitively over successive generations. Which wouldn't be the case here.

@Parsa, If their surname is same, means they are blood related, they owe to same lineage. Pathan is tribe to which Afridi belongs,so is Niazi. Afridi is not a tribe, thats made up of several surnames/ anyway,it's a common practice in Pakistan, where most get married this way I believe.
