Ms. Marvel is now the highest scoring Marvel production on Rotten Tomatoes

The series about a Pakistani-American superhero even beat Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther.
13 Jun, 2022

Only six days after its release, superhero series Ms. Marvel is now the highest scoring Disney+ and MCU original series on Rotten Tomatoes with 97 per cent. The series has a higher score than every other MCU film as well.

According to Forbes, the series stands above 14 other MCU contenders that scored a high percentage including Disney+ series and movies — Black Panther at 96 per cent, Avengers Endgame at 94 per cent competing with Iron Man and What If...?, Thor Ragnarok and Spider-Man: No Way Home at 93 per cent, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Loki, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hawkeye and The Avengers at 92 per cent, WandaVision and Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings at 91 per cent and Spider-Man: Far From Home at 90 per cent.

Disney+ shows like Loki and WandaVision also made it to the list, but Ms. Marvel took the crown by unseating the champion, Black Panther that ruled the ratings prior to the series' release. Starring the late actor Chadwick Boseman, the film was previously the highest rated Marvel production on the website at 96 per cent.

The new series could lose a point or two in the near future as more episodes release online and more reviews pour in. So far, it has 161 critic reviews.

In the show, actor Iman Vellani plays 16-year-old Kamala, a Pakistani-American teenager who lives in Jersey City. Kamala is an aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe. She is also a huge fan of the Avengers — and one in particular, Captain Marvel. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world — that is until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to.

Ms Marvel is being helmed by Oscar-winning Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. While it premiered on Disney+ on Wednesday, Marvel Studios will be releasing Ms. Marvel exclusively in cinemas in Pakistan this week. Episodes one and two will debut this Friday (June 17), three and four on June 30 and five and six on July 14.

We don't know about a second season, but Ms. Marvel is going to appear in The Marvels in 2023 alongside Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, whom she admires.

Hyper political-correctness will create long-term hate for the colored people in the hearts of the white people in the west. These studio execs need to ease it with the browning and blacking of white comics and fiction characters.

Rotten Tomatoes doesn't take into consideration what regular viewers think. A bunch of critics can gang up and decide which way they want to take the ratings. Funny you didn't mention if the review bomb issue on IMDB. It got a ton of 1* ratings.

Isn't it ironic that anytime young Pakistani girls gain global exposure and recognition through their hardwork, average Pakistanis hate on them and spew their nonsense misogynistic attitude all over the place.

Seems like the general consensus is that this show is designed for children and not adults - that's different that most Marvel Studio movies. That's OK but it's probably something you should know if you have to pay to watch it.

Highest rated, but obviously not the best. I don't care how much you like it, no honest person is going to claim this is the best thing the MCU has produced. All your article proves is that review bombing goes both ways and that so-called critics aren't above it. Making them even more irrelevant than they already were. Rotten Tomatoes is utterly and completely worthless if even the so-called critics can't be honest...

@Soniye tu auder te la Kamal Khan as ms marvel has been around for more than 6 years in the marvel comics. Her solo series have been breaking sales record multiple time so she is very main stream in marvel comic universe. Plus she also a leader for her own super hero team. Even do she is brown and Muslim, people who are true marvel fans don’t care.

@Sal "Isn't it ironic that anytime young Pakistani girls gain global exposure and recognition through their hardwork, average Pakistanis hate on them and spew their nonsense misogynistic attitude all over the place." I agree with you, although it's also worth bearing in mind that these people don't represent all of Pakistan - they are usually lonely, angry men hiding behind their keyboards. Inshallah Iman will do just what Malala did and inspire millions of our girls to rise to greatness, despite the bitterness of jealous man-babies.

@King You DO know what review bombing means right? It basically means a vocal minority creating fake accounts and using bots to artificially drag down a review. You can do that for easily-manipulated online reviews but not valid official reviews, which is why the audience reviews are useless there.

@Sal you are so right. Pakistani men especially can sink very low and it’s sad to say that women are pretty brainwashed too. I don’t know if their constant failures or poor self esteem. On top of it all they like spending time on social media sharing their ignorant comments. No hope for this sad bunch.

And on IMDB & Google (which have a lot more voters than Rotten Tomatoes), it’s the lowest rated Marvel production.
